All About Me
Welcome to this section of my website. Man, that feels weird, but hey, you clicked on the About page.

So TLDR;
I am a published sci-fi/fantasy author, freelance artist and animator, podcaster, variety streamer, and--most importantly--a mom to a beautiful daughter. I am also a cat mom, with two cats. I have also been a McDonald's cashier, a secretary, lab tech, Chemical Engineer, babysitter, tutor, science teacher, sculptor, carpenter, game developer, and car mechanic. I do my best writing in my favorite recliner, my local coffee shop, and whenever I'm house sitting for my parents.
The long version
I am J.H.H. Spears. Many online call me 'Unoraptormon'. I wear many hats with my work, though the main ones are Author, Freelance Artist & Animator, Podcaster, and Variety Streamer. I have two degrees in Chemistry, and a minor in secondary education. I'd also have an associates in Chemical Engineering if they offered it, but all I have is work experience.

My Work
With my writing, most of my novels rest solidly in Sci-fi and fantasy, but I tend to use the line toward Grimdark as a jump rope. I have plans for spin-offs and short stories, which may fall under other genres. There's also a psychological horror series in the works too. Most of my themes revolve around revenge and how gloriously terrible it can go, along with how it tears worlds--both personal and global--apart. On top of novels, I am writing some Uno-Verse comics and I am writing scripts for an educational cartoon, a slice-of-life based on said educational cartoon, and a faux documentary featuring a raptor.

In the realm of creative work, most of my personal art and animations are linked to my written projects. That said, most of my overall work in art and animation comes from commissions, and in terms of the Elmo the Pig animations, volunteer work. In what downtime I have, I construct wooden furniture, crochet, garden, knit, sculpt, and write songs.

The Backstory
I was born on a military base in Repbulica de Panama. According to the footage my folks recorded, I had a habit of chasing after the local iguanas. Though my claim to fame as a baby, was losing the keys to all of the locks on base. Still don't know where they are, but hey, the base got brand new locks. Then there was the local Kuna Indians of the San Blas Islands, to whom my Cherokee dad was an emissary.

There's a story my mom likes to tell about her interactions with the chief's wife, but I'll tell it another time, maybe on stream.

Dad retired when I was two years old, and our whole family moved to the States, where we've all lived ever since. I did a lot of crazy critter drawings as I grew up; dinosaurs took center stage but there were these bizarre creatures too. The first character I created was in third grade but she seemed to vanish from my head until sixth, when I remembered her name after looking at a Periodic Table in Science class. That character was Unoraptormon. It was also around that time that I had found the Redwall series by Brian Jacques and the game Jak 2 came out. Those all combined into the start of the Uno-verse, and the spark that lit my passion for writing.

A quick little back up to show you how significant Brian Jacques' Redwall series really is. In elementary school, I started out in special education, taken aside every recess, for two grades, because I had trouble reading. From there, I hated reading. Nothing you could do to get me to do it if I didn't have to (Free Pizza at Pizza Hut tickets usually did it), though thanks to it, I ended up in advanced classes. Fast forward to sixth grade, and my only elective class was forced to be Reading. (Thanks fourth grade teachers). We had to do a book report, but got to choose our book. I walked around the library and found Mossflower. I hated it. Put it away because I couldn't stand it, but the talking animals did intrigue me. That's when I traded it out for Mattimeo. It's in the same series, so maybe there would be more talking animals. I was sucked in. I wanted to learn more, to read more. It was also then that I wanted to write stories, just like Brian Jacques. I had a character. I had inspiration. The first thing I wrote was a silly two page fanfic called Jena, which will never see the light of day if I can help it.

Fast forward to high school, I stayed in advanced courses for the most part. I even took additional science classes so I could better understand how our world worked and applied it to my books and art. I finished the first draft of the first book then wrote the first draft of the original second book. I wanted to get published, but all that was available was Vantage Press, which is a vanity publisher that would've cost teenage me $10k. Thankfully, I had smart parents and they didn't let me do that. High School then finished up and I earned my way into Auburn University. I started rewriting the first book during the first year, but the Chemical Engineering courses kinda stabbed it and tossed it into the closet. A lot happened at Auburn, some terrible and traumatizing, some good. Something that was great, was meeting my husband.

We started out as friends, sharing classes and gaming. Eventually, we asked each other out. That's another story I can tell on stream. We went through something terrible that I thought might end us, but I learned what kind of man he is. We dated for four years. Then on a beach, at sunset, he proposed to me. We married a few months later. People are still surprised that we've been married since 2015.

Thanks to him, I picked my writing back up. I also started doing YouTube Let's Plays, which made me miserable. I stayed miserable with it until I tried Twitch. While I still get frustrated, I'm happy that I made the switch. I did go back to school to get another degree in Chemistry as well as a teaching degree. I graduated in 2020. You can all guess how well that went. Sadly, I couldn't get hired as a teacher for various reasons (more stories for stream!), so I came up with the idea for an educational cartoon to help other teachers with chemistry. I'm still working on it and might be able to team up with a fellow graduate to get it up to current educational standards.

Since then, I worked on my wide variety of projects, with a steady focus on my books. I finished a reader ready draft of Book #1 in 2021. After a rough 4 years of Beta Reading, a bad editor, book cover atrocities, and a thankfully successful Kickstarter, I finally published my first book on July 31, 2025. The official beginning of the Uno-Verse, Usek: Haven's Last Blade, can be purchased on Amazon.

While waiting on the book cover artist, I started working on Book #2, which came from the chapters I removed from the reader-ready draft of Book #1. I finished the first reader ready draft of Book #2 in 2026. While waiting for my Beta Readers to get through Book #2, I started drafting Book #3, which comes from the second half of the original draft for Book #1. (I realize it sounds confusing right now, but you can ask me about it on stream.) I finished Book #3 draft around July/August 2026, which lead to the realization that said draft would have to be broken down into multiple books.

That said, in 2026, I planned to get Book #2 published. However, that plan was tossed aside due to an unexpected but greatly desired surprise. In March 2026, I found out I was pregnant. I continued working on my books and kept streaming, mainly because those were somewhat easy on me and the baby. The pregnancy, unfortunately, did have a few issues, though thankfully none of it was with the baby. To quote my husband for most of my pregnancy, "The baby's fine. It's the mom who's falling apart." I fell under 'high-risk' and had to be really careful through the pregnancy. Eventually, it was decided that I had to have a C-section. My complications and the size of the baby made it the only option, and also narrowed the delivery window to Week 37 of the pregnancy. In September 2026, we scheduled the C-section. In October 2026, my daughter was born.
Right now, I'm updating this "About" page in November 2026. I am still recovering from the C-section and will be for at least four more weeks, but I have my baby girl sleeping in her bed beside me. Every second of the pregnancy--the good, the bad, and the painful--was worth it.
History of the Site
How about some history on the website? How we got here is a little funny.

So TLDR;
This site started on Webs.com, during high school web design class. I used unoraptormon.webs.com until I graduated as a chemistry teacher in 2020. Vistaprint bought Webs.com and I paid to keep my site. Then they canned Webs.com and I made this site. Nothing's been the same since.

The long version 2
Alright, so this site did actually start in my high school web design class. The class was brand new. My classmates and I were the guinea pigs for the teacher to figure out how to teach the program. Being the goodie-two shoes that I was (At least for teachers), I wanted to find this mythical 'web hosting site' she was talking about. That's when I found Webs.com. It was easy to use and, most importantly, it was free to use. Didn't cost a penny, which is great for teachers.

During that class I made the first version of unoraptormon.webs.com. Naturally, it was a mess. The website was mostly black with edgy teenage red.
More at a later day, but as of March 20, 2021, unoraptormon.webs.com has moved here!
